Janie & Trevor’s wedding is one of those days I keep coming back to. Not just because it was beautiful (and it really, really was), but because it felt so authentically them from start to finish.
Janie and I had been Instagram friends for a few years before she reached out about photographing their wedding, and I remember getting her inquiry in January 2025 and just feeling so so honored. There’s something extra special (and honestly a little nerve-wracking in the best way) about being trusted by another photographer, especially one whose creativity you already admire. Janie and Trevor are the kind of people who feel like a deep exhale to be around…outdoorsy, artistic, intentional, and just really fun humans. The kind of couple I’d photograph a hundred times over.
They chose to get married at Nardini Manor in Arizona, and from the beginning, I knew it was going to be something special. Throughout the planning process, Janie would send me little glimpses into her vision: dress ideas, florals, table design. Every single detail felt so thoughtfully curated. She designed so much of it herself, and seeing it all come to life in one place truly took my breath away. The colors alone deserve a moment: hot pink, chartreuse green, and rich purple woven into this vintage-inspired space in a way that somehow felt both bold/funky AND timeless.
The day started slow and easy, with Janie getting ready in the most beautiful vintage suite at the manor, surrounded by her bridesmaids. There was music playing, laughter, little in-between moments. It all felt really grounded and present and sweet. Meanwhile, Trevor and the guys were getting ready in a separate space, and one of my favorite details from the day was here: instead of traditional boutonnieres, Janie thrifted unique pins for each of the guys to wear. It was such a simple swap, but it made everything feel so personal and FUN (and they looked so good/photographed real well).
Before the ceremony, Janie and Trevor chose to share private vows without seeing each other, tucked under a tree and reading their words aloud while still saving that moment of seeing each other for the aisle. It was quiet, emotional, and really meaningful. Janie also did a first look with her dad and brother, which was such a sweet, emotional part of the day. And in yet another incredibly thoughtful detail, she embroidered handkerchiefs for her parents—a small thing that held so much weight and meant the world to them.
We kept the wedding party photos separate before the ceremony, which made for some of my all-time favorite images, especially the ones of Janie sitting in the grass surrounded by her bridesmaids. There’s something about those that just feels like pure joy.
Their ceremony was just as intentional as everything else: officiated by Janie’s brother, full of meaning, and surrounded by the most stylish, vibrant group of people (the guest outfits deserve their own shoutout). Afterward, the reception space came to life, and it was stunning. Janie thrifted and designed so many of the details—from the candles to the table draping—and it all came together in a layered, textured, vintage-inspired dream.
As the night went on, they moved through the usual rhythms of first dances, speeches, and dinner but it never felt like they were checking boxes. It just felt like a really wonderful celebration. At one point, Janie changed into the cutest shorter dress with pearl detailing (obsessed), and the dance floor stayed full the rest of the night.
It was the kind of wedding that felt effortless in the best way. Colorful, creative, a little unconventional, and completely true to who they are. And getting to be there—not just as their photographer, but as someone who genuinely cares about them—was something I won’t forget anytime soon.
